Idaho No. 1: Who Knew?

Based on our research, the Gem State - Idaho - has pulled out a few gems during its history and is full of practical jokers. Idaho has a search interest score of 100, compared to other topics.

Here in Iowa, we are an impressive No. 2 with a score of 77 when it comes to April Fool’s Day pranks. Iowa is followed by Colorado (74), Kansas (64) and West Virginia (60).  Minnesota (59), Alabama (50), Connecticut (42), Michigan (41) and Tennessee (41) round out the top 10.

No joke, the Hawkeye State is known for two of our nation's top practical jokers.

Legendary television talk show host and king of late-night talk shows, Johnny Carson, was born in Corning in 1925. Carson was in the state a short time as his family moved to Nebraska while he was still young.

And then there’s a legend in his own mind, Ron Burgundy - played by comedian Will Ferrell in the 2004 film “Anchorman.” Burgundy was born in fictional Haggleworth, a small coal-mining town in Iowa, where he spent the early years of his life before his amazing news anchor career in San Diego.
